Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for an Interim Assistant Head to help with the following:

•           Supporting the Head Teacher and Management Team in ensuring the vision of Priory Education & Children's Services is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all stakeholders

•           Deputising for the Head Teacher in the day-to-day efficient management of the school in his/her absence, thus ensuring a consistently high quality education for all young people on roll

•           Taking a lead role in curriculum development and pastoral care, supported by the Head Teacher, Operations Manager and Operations Director

•           Maintaining a continuous focus on young people’s achievement, effectively using data and benchmarks to monitor the progress in every young person’s learning

•           Ensuring the day-to-day application of a diverse and inclusive curriculum that is responsive to the needs of individual young people

•           Assisting the Head Teacher in assessing and monitoring the quality of planning, teaching and of learning outcomes, and helping to promote improvement strategies as necessary

•           Promoting outstanding teaching by consistently modelling good practice and providing peer support for all colleagues

•           Working with the new Deputy Head to establish their role


The ideal candidate will have Leadership experience at a Senior Teacher or Assistant Head/Principal level. They will be able to work effectively within the team. We are looking for someone with experience with children with SEN that is a qualified senior leader with knowledge and experience of safeguarding within schools.  


The role will be based in Quay View School in Bere Alston

We are looking for someone that can start immediately  and will be holding the interviews on Thursday 25/04/19.

Quay View School is an already established education provision, which specialises in children with SEMH and currently has 20 pupils aged between 7-19.


We also have Tor View School in Tavistock, which is a new education provision, which opened in 2018. It is a diverse school which specialises in high quality educational provision for up to 25 children aged between 7-18 with complex learning needs and challenging behaviour including Autism.
