Job Advert Location Description

Priory Hospital Hemel Hempstead offers a safe and supportive complex care and rehabilitation service for male and female service users with enduring mental health problems.The 34 bedded locked facility is split into three services and gender specific wards and has a range of facilities available on site.

Our consultant led multidisciplinary team offer safe and supportive rehabilitation, aiming to work collaboratively with our service users to provide the best quality care, improve the quality of their lives and help them achieve the highest level of independence and dignity.

Job Advert Role Description

 To undertake assessments and interventions (for example neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations and semi-structured interviews of clients, family members and others involved in the clients’ care), as appropriate to level of training, competence and under regular supervision from a qualified practitioner Psychologist.
 To assist in the development of psychologically based frameworks of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service.
 To conduct literature searches, collate audit and outcome evidence, analyse relevant data and produce reports to inform and enhance care delivered by the service.
 To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups, training or research projects
 If required, to compile risk assessments to inform care plans and risk management plans
 To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings.
 To support the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions for clients.
 To carry out other clinical and administrative tasks as appropriate to the post holder’s grade.


The Person
 Post graduate experience of working in a healthcare and / or secure environment is desirable but not essential
 First degree in Psychology of 2:1 or above
 Eligible for Graduate membership of BPS
 Basic knowledge of databases, research skills and methodology -Essential
 Experience of group work and individual therapeutic contact- Essential
 Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a health context- Essential
 An understanding of psychology applied to health care- Essential
 To be able to communicate effectively under pressure and maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times- Essential
 High standard of report writing - Essential
