The Priory Hospital Altrincham is located in a beautifully appointed and tranquil part of Cheshire. With access to an on-site Doctor 24 hours a day, we ensure a safe and comfortable atmosphere at all times. Our senior consultant and therapist-led teams are also supported by 24 hour, expert nursing care. 

We are one of the UK’s leading centres for the treatment of depression, anxiety and addictions and we provide consultant and therapist-led treatments for 50 patients on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

The striking manor-style house which stands upon beautiful, landscaped grounds provides a peaceful and homely feel to the hospital, delivering the perfect environment for treatment.

Job Advert Role Description

We are currently seeking to recruit a Staff Grade/Specialty Ward Doctor to work full time within our adult general psychiatric services.

The post holder will work closely with our Consultant Psychiatrists and our large multi-disciplinary team and be committed to providing quality patient focussed care, comprehensive risk assessment and working to the highest standards. The role holder will work alongside the hospital's senior management team,  be involved in the Clinical Governance and audit processes accross the hospital and will help to deliver training and provide support for the other Ward Doctors on site.  The role holder will experience a wide variety of clinical practice not usually available in the NHS.  General Psychiatric experience is essential.  The successful candidate will possess an MBBS qualification or equivalent and will be required to maintain full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). It is desirable for role holder to posses MRCPsych though not mandatory. The role holder will be able to demonstrate evidence of foundation training and competencies (or equivalent) including experience of working within the field of psychiatry. Experience of working within an acute setting and of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team would be desirable.  Experience in core training or working as Staff Grade/Speciality Doctor is desirable. The role holder will work closely with the unit’s multidisciplinary team to ensure that clients receive a holistic and person-centric treatment programme based on the recovery model. 

This position will involve working with our adult patients but we would require some flexibility to provide cover and support for our other inpatient services which includes an ED Adolescent service.

This role does not include out of hours on call. However, day time cross cover with two other ward doctors is part of the role. We have two additional resident medical officers who are on site and cover out of hours and weekends
