Beverley House is a 24-bedded rehabilitation hospital for women over the age of 18, situated in the heart of the community in Birmingham.

Patients admitted to Beverley House may be informal or detained under the Mental Health Act with a primary diagnosis of mental illness and personality disorder with complex needs

Job Advert Role Description

Maternity Cover - We are looking for an experienced individual to work with our female patients.  As part of your role, you will be responsible for providing high quality  service under the supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist.  You will support with the delivery of a full ward programme which will include facilitating groups and managing a case load of patients for individual therapy sessions.   You will be involve in  Risk Assessments and Management.  You will have the opportunity  to work creatively and flexibly to develop and implement innovative practice and service developments.  You will also be responsible for inputting data on Carenotes, and completing 12 week timetable.  



Role requirements:


Skills & Knowledge:

•Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Occupational Therapy

•IT literate

•Basic knowledge of the principle of clinical governance

•Understanding of the CPA process

•Knowledge of current legislation including the MHA, and legislation specific to this

•Effective written and verbal communication skills

•Understanding of issues relating to clinical  specific settings



•Experience of working with service users in a mental health setting

•Experience of departmental working

•Experience of running therapeutic and activity groups


Personal skills

•Motivated, energetic and flexible

•Attention to detail

•Able to stay calm and work effectively under pressure/stress

•Evidence of coping strategies to deal with stress/challenging experiences

•Aware of own training needs

•Able to communicate effectively with people at all times

•Able to maintain confidentiality of all colleagues and service users


A qualified driver with current driving license and able to drive the company vehicle.



Some services may require the postholder to undertake Breakaway and Management of Violence and aggression (MVA) training and this requires a certain level of physical fitness and ability.
