Our Children’s Home situated in Little Malvern, Worcestershire area is seeking a permanent full-time Residential Support Worker. Underhill’s Registered Children’s home is part of the Priory specialist service, registered for up to three children who have complex needs which may include autistic spectrum disorder with Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties.

As a Support Worker at our children’s home in the Malvern area you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our young people. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with our young people, supporting them to achieve their potential and explore new opportunities and interests. Participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.

Duties

As a Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following:

  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Manage the well-being and behaviour of young people ensuring behaviour's are addressed promptly and sensitively
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour
  • You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies and advocating their needs
  • Support and encourage educational engagement and attainment including homework and behavioural support within the education setting
  • Working as a team you will ensure the home is kept to a good standard in all aspects of house-keeping.

Our Support Worker roles in Little Malvern offer a salary of up to £16,185 per annum plus £40 nightly sleep in allowance. There is an opportunity for overtime if desired.

Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification is desirable but not essential for this role (we can support with the training of this.) Successful applicants will ideally have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour. 

Do to the remote location of the home you would need to have a driving license and your own vehicle.

Hours

A family is 24/7 and so are we. We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. As a support Worker, in our Home you should be happy to work a shift rota system that includes working some weekends and bank holidays. You should be happy to work approximately 6 sleep in’s per month, and 1 in every 3 weekends. This home is open 52 weeks a year.

You will be required to work 7 x 15 hour shifts on a transparent 3 week rolling rota basis:

Week One: Monday & Thursday

Week Two: Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday

Week Three: Tuesday & Friday

That’s right! You get five consecutive days off every three weeks (between Week Two and Three)
