We are recruiting for a Senior Support Worker for our Children’s Homes in the Pontypridd area. As a Senior Support Worker at our children’s home you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our young people. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with our young people, supporting them to achieve their potential and explore new opportunities and interests. Participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.

Our Young people also have the opportunities to participate in lots of activities of their choice; this can be anything from going to the cinema, bowling, ice skating, horse riding, martial arts clubs, visiting the gym to keep fit & healthy. Go Karting, outdoor pursuit’s activities and lots more. All staff are expected to either participate, supervise in these activities if you wish, this helps to build positive relationships with the young people we care for as well as being a positive role model for them

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following:

  • Supporting the management to run a successful staff team and all day to day operations of the home
  • To assist the management team with the supervisions of junior staff
  • Inducting new staff into the homes procedure and culture
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the young people’s physical, behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Assist senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour.
  • You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies
  • Support and encourage educational engagement and attainment including homework and behavioural support within the education setting

This is a physically demanding role and staff will also need to have the confidence to deal with the challenging behaviours that autism can present.  We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all our employees to share in this commitment.

Our Senior Support Worker roles in Pontypridd offer a salary of up to £21,994.57 per annum.

A Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification is essential for this role. Successful applicants will need to have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour. Due to the nature of the role you are required to have a full driving licence for more than 3 years.

Hours

A family is 24/7 and so are we. We use a rolling rota covering all weekdays and weekends to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. This post will suit someone whom can be flexible with working hours.

Example of shifts cam include:

Day 1 09.30 am – 23.00 pm with a sleep in

Day 2 07.30 am – 23.00 pm with a sleep in

Day 3 finish 07. 30 am
