Job Advert Location Description

We are currently recruiting for a full time forensic psychiatrist for our low secure Hopsital based in Cardiff. The unit is home to 45 patients with enduring mental health and personality difficulties, most of whom also have forensic histories.

 

The unit boasts a robust multi-disciplinary team where the psychiatrist works alongside colleagues from Psychology; Nursing; Occupational Therapy; and Social Work to provide high quality care.

 

The Psychiatrist we are looking for will be responsible for the inpatient care and individual treatment and discharge plans for the patients under his / her care in line with the Care Programme Approach.

 

You will be experienced in leading inpatient care reviews; CPA's, MHRT's and Managers Hearings.

 

The psychistrist will also hold peer review/clinical supervision sessions with Associate Specialists, as appropriate.

 

Other roles and responsibilties include;

 

1. Participation in pre-admission assessments of patients and to  

    report back to the agreed forum.

2. Taking a lead role in medical and clinical audit activities.

3. Participation in on-call cover for the hospital, on a rota to be

    agreed with the Hospital Director and Hospital Medical

    Director.

4. Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence, as

    agreed with the Hospital Director and Hospital Medical

    Director.

5. Participation in Continuing Professional Development activities

    and an in-house educational / training programme.

6. Perform other appropriate duties as agreed from time to time

    with the Hospital Director and Hospital medical Director.

7. Involement in the hospital Clinical Governance programme.

8. Other duties in line with the responsibility of the role

 

The psychiatrist we are looking for will be experienced in assessment and formulation to help determine the treatment needs of individual service users. The role also includes providing training to staff, facilitating reflective practice, completing risk assessments and providing individual and group interventions, to meet the needs of the population.

 

There is a large established and supportive medical team across the region to provide the backdrop to the work on the units.
