Job Advert Role Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Medical Secretary to join our team.


Job Purpose: Support the Priory services by answering telephone calls, scheduling patient appointments and arranging and updating referrals to consultants. Also maintaining office files and patient records. Audio typing all consultant's notes and letters including audio cassettes.



Answering and screening incoming telephone calls, recording and transmitting messages, scheduling appointments for new as well as follow up patients. Keep patient referrals updated and current.


Ensure high productivity by efficiently maintaining calendars; scheduling patient appointments, consultations, professional meetings and conferences.


Communicate with other mental health practioners; faxing/emailing notes, correspondence to referring agencies or consultants, hospitals etc.  Provide historical reference by developing and utilising filing and retrieval systems; maintaining patient records. 


Maintain patient confidence and protect services by keeping information confidential.


Maintain office supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing orders if necessary.  Keep office equipment operating by following operating instructions and reporting any problems
