Job Advert Role Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time medical secretary to join the team on a temporary fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Priory Hospital Church Village is a locked rehabilitation service, providing assessment and treatment for women between the ages of 18 and 65 with a mild to moderate learning disability, who may also have a personality disorder and associated mental health problems. The hospital had 10 beds on the main ward, with a 2 bedroom step down bungalow on site.

 

The Role

-Provides efficient and effective secretarial support to the Consultant Psychiatrist, including typing, telephone enquiries, diary management, arrangement of CPA’s/CTR’s, meeting and greeting visitors and other administrative tasks as appropriate.

-Recognises the level of importance of particular enquiries, issues or callers and applies the appropriate prioritisation to ensure the highest level of service.

-Ensures that all documentation is correctly filed, in order that financial, regulatory and other auditors can be satisfied via the efficient recovery of key documents of initial entry.

-Updates patient details within Priory database systems, ensuring accuracy of all data input.

-Handles all external and internal enquiries relating to the Consultant, directing queries as appropriate.

-Generally, the role holder will work within existing procedures and processes, however, there will occasionally be the need for more adaptive thinking, particularly when dealing with patients, and their relatives etc.

 -General admin duties as required for the effective running of the service.

Experience Required

-The role holder should be educated to GCSE (Grades A-C) or equivalent standard, and should possess excellent keyboard skills and an intermediate level of proficiency for the standard range of office applications. An understanding of medical terminology is required, as are audio-typing abilities.

-Experience within an administrative, customer service, clinical or other appropriate background.

-A strong sense of responsibility & ownership

-Willingness to learn

-Excellent written and face to face communication skills

-Flexibility and strong “can do” attitude
