Job Advert Role Description

At Priory Education we are proud of our reputation for delivering quality education and care services with positive outcomes for children and young people aged 5 to 25 who have experienced difficulties in their previous education placements.

Ticehurst Hospital School is an independent co-educational day school for young people aged 11 to 18. Our students are all inpatients of the CAMHS Tier 4 unit and PICU at The Priory Hospital Ticehurst.  We have a team of specialist teachers and teaching assistants who deliver education to all young people at the hospital, where the school is based.

It is our intention that every student develops their courage, determination and skills as a learner, so they can re-engage confidently with their education on discharge. We liaise with mainstream schools and colleges and each young person has an individualised curriculum plan in each subject area, with progress being closely monitored.  Our school offers a broad based academic and enrichment curriculum, with specialist teaching spaces, teaching technologies and substantial grounds around our buildings.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant.

This post is likely to suit an individual with previous experience in a school environment, as either a Teaching Assistant, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or Teacher wishing to work as a TA, who is comfortable working in Key Stage 3 and 4.

Experience with Post-16 support is desirable.

Secure knowledge and strong support skills in Maths and English up to GCSE is essential.

The Teaching Assistant will be expected to:

  • Support the activities of all curriculum areas in the classroom
  • Work with individuals and groups to support their learning in Maths and English
  • Provide for the general welfare and pastoral care of children
  • Be self-motivated and liaise with members of staff throughout the school, working effectively as a member of the team
  • Prepare and clear away materials and assist with displays and general classroom organisation
  • The ability to support the Health and Wellbeing curriculum is desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates from mainstream or specialist education or community provision who are looking to move into a hospital specialist setting.

If you have relevant experience, then why not contact the Executive Head Teacher, Patricia Wilson for an informal chat on 07802 876868.  Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.

Closing date is Monday 25th March 2019, with interviews to be held in the same week.
