The Priory Bristol Offices are close the Bristol ring road with easy access to the city centre and the motorway network M32, M4 and M5.  The IT Department  consists of a Support Team (Applications, Technical, Telecoms and Development), an Infrastructure team, Projects team, Business Intelligence team and Training Team.

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for a hard-working, dedicated & motivated individual who is skilled in IT Security. Please note previous experience is essential in this role and candidiates without the relevant experience will not be successful.  Excellent communication skills are a must and the role holder will be expected to develop good working relationships with other teams and colleagues of varying technical ability.

This would suit a candidate who would like to drive forward career progression within a dedicated team.

Operations support, troubleshooting and analysis of endpoint security systems such as:

  • Antivirus, Threat detection
  • Firewalls
  • Encryption
  • DLP
  • Email security
  • Secure Web Gateway
  • Events Monitoring     
  • Secure Data transfer             
  •  Secure remote access/VPN               
  • Secure deployments/patching

Duties, Responsibilities and Experience required:

  •  Ensure Firewalls, Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems, Data Loss Prevention technology and other security products operate according to best practice
  • Assess newly disclosed vulnerabilities and threats for severity, determine immediate and subsequent actions
  • Manage, analyse and action email and reported security alerts in a timely manner
  • Manage and liaise with other teams to assist with remediating vulnerabilities identified during regular scanning of IT Infrastructure
  •  Analyse and produce a consolidated, reportable view of security log data
  • Contribute to updating of internal security policies, processes and procedures
  • Ensure that IT Systems comply with industry security initiatives and best practice
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert for security related infrastructure
  • Liaise with the Infrastructure team to ensure consistent approach to security vulnerabilities and actions
  • Perform risk assessments as required, and liaise with the IT Risk and Compliance Manager on IT related security issues and risks
  • Assist with annual and ad-hoc pen testing by third parties, analysis of their results and formulation of an action plan where appropriate to mitigate any risks identified
  •  Ensure awareness of general trends in security exploits and have a broad understanding of the tools available to mitigate risk
  • Have input into security strategy and planning
  • Increase organisational awareness of technical security best practice
  • Be available for on-call duty should security issues occur overnight or over the weekend
  • Formally recognised IT security qualification
  • In depth understanding of the vulnerability assessment and remediation
  •  Experience of incident management and forensics for security related issues
  •  Ability to conduct risk assessments and convey results to stakeholders, compliance and management
  • A solid understanding of IT Networking concepts and protocols
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The drive to see delegated tasks through to completion
  •  Ability to run and manage complex projects independently
  •  A team player
  • The ability to work under pressure.
