Job Advert Role Description

Our children's home in Worthing is a 5 bedded Residential Children's home which aims to provide a residential provision for young people for whom the local authority resources do not exist, or for those who have historically not responded well within children’s homes or foster care environments.  As a result, the children who live at the home are the more anxious, troubled or conventionally challenged young people within the care system. Our children do struggle to emotionally regulate which will often result in displays of destructive aggressive behaviour.

We understand that these young people’s initial opportunities in life can be minimised by both their behavioural labelling and ‘Looked After’ status; we therefore aim to promote ‘normalisation’ within the geographical location, living and care environment at our home.  It is the aim that each young person will find stability in the homes location and reassurance in the homes supportive framework of routine, structure, and boundaries.

It is the ultimate objective of the home that each young person that we accommodate has the opportunity to fulfil his or her potential, without fear of harm or danger and at all times, preserving dignity and self-respect.

Our children's home requires a part time Housekeeper to manage general day to day cleaning and deep cleans.

In addition to the above, duties include:

  • Washing the children's clothing
  • Ironing school uniforms
  • Food shopping
  • Ensuring all food is in date and covered, completion pf relevant health and safety cleaning charts, COSHH control.

Previous cleaning experience is essential as a high standard of cleaning is expected.

Shift times can be flexible if required and can be discussed at interview.

Ideal hours would be Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm or 9am to 1pm while the children are at school.  Due to some requirements of the role, it is essential that candidates must be a car driver with a clean driving license for at least the last 3 years.

Due to the nature of the children we care for, you will be required to be DBS police checked which will be completed before employment by the Priory Group.
