Ty Catrin is a low secure mental illness and personality disorder service for men and women who require a medium-term placement and recovery-orientated specialist treatment in order to progress on their care pathway towards rehabilitation care.

The facility is split into six wards along with semi-independent flats onsite. The ward breakdown is as follows:

Heath - 3 bedded locked rehabilitation ward for women with mental illness and personality disorder
Roath - 8 bedded low secure ward for men with mental illness and personality disorder
Sophia - 8 bedded low secure ward for women with mental illness and personality disorder
Trelai - 4 bedded low secure ward for women with mental illness and personality disorder
Victoria- 11 bedded low secure ward for women with mental illness and personality disorder
Bute Ward - 11 bedded low secure ward for men with mental illness and personality disorder

Maintenance/Support Services Manager

 Oversees and delivers an efficient and effective maintenance service within a Priory site to assist in the well-being, comfort and safety of patients, colleagues and visitors. Ensures adherence to the General Property Maintenance Guide. SSM Role – Manages and is responsible for the operation of support services for the unit including catering, housekeeping. The post holder is a member of the hospital’s Senior Management Team


- Support Services Responsibilities
To manage and develop Support Services, Ensuring that the highest quality services are provided within budget.
Manages the maintenance of the hospitals assets, including the building, within the Capital Expenditure Budget.
Ensures that Functional spends are correctly managed within agreed budgets, as well as identifying and flagging any potential overspends on a weekly basis.
Build and maintain effective relationships with external suppliers.
Seeks advice and guidance from Estates professionals to ensure that all improvements to assets are carried out to Priory minimum standards, as well as meeting any regulatory requirements.
Project manages local capital expenditure, if required meeting with contractors and ensuring best value.
Reporting to the hospital Clinical Governance Committee, MHA managers meeting etc as required.
Ensure as far as practicable, a safe environment in hearings for visitors and staff.

- Maintenance Responsibilities
Manages & Oversees and undertakes a variety of general maintenance jobs as required, with particular focus that patient related jobs as a priority.
Prioritises the work of the Maintenance team and maintains the work request log.
Ensures the maintenance of a well decorated, safe and comfortable environment through the unit, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations.
Identifies damage, faults and other related issues and prioritises their repair / replacement whilst ensuring the environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations.
 Receives and acts upon information concerning faults, or damage.
Ensuring the team is working effectively, planning workloads, ensuring materials are available to complete the tasks.
Responsible for ensuring that all local maintenance checks are carried out at the intervals as prescribed in the General Property Maintenance Guide and reporting any issues to the Hospital Director.
Responsible for establishing local relationships with contracts, ensuring appropriate checks are completed and are the first point of contact.
Liaises with local contractors as required, providing local knowledge and guidance, in order that planned and preventative maintenance schedules can be completed in a timely fashion.
Prior to gaining approval to go to 3rd party contractors, the you’re responsible for completing an appropriate risk assessment to demonstrate that failure to bring in resource could put service users, colleagues or others at risk.
Ensuring the use of the help desk is as a backup or emergency service and not a core maintenance resource.
Certifies purchase orders and invoices ensuring that any spends are appropriately pre-authorised and within budget.
Under direction, sources and collates capital expenditure project costings and the locally project manages.
Responsible for maintaining the site Planned Preventative Maintenance Planner (PPM) and working with external contractors to ensure technical inspections are carried out appropriately.
Provide coaching and guidance to the maintenance team.
Individuals will be required, nor should they, carry out any works that require a certification unless they are in possession of an in date and correct certificate.
