Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK.  With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Clay Hill School is a specialist school providing education for boys and girls aged 9 - 18 who have complex emotional, social and behavioural needs but who also may have a range of associated complex needs such as attachment disorders and other conditions within the Autistic or Aspergers spectrum which invariably have a negative impact on their learning and progression.

Clay Hill School provides a wholly integrated and highly effective provision providing 1:1 or small group education, individualised therapy, and a carefully structured social development programme. A stable, calm and caring environment is provided, which combined with high staff to pupil ratios ensures that every pupil at Clay Hill School has the opportunity to develop their ability, share new experiences and reach their full potential in a secure and safe environment.

Some of the responsibilities of a Learning Support Worker are as follows:-

  • To undertake education support duties and assist the class teacher in the day to day needs of the pupils in their care,
  • To enable the teacher to implement the curriculum and respond to the pupils’ needs.
  • To maintain complete confidentiality on all school matters
  • Provide pupils with the level and type of support specified by the teacher, whilst at the same time encouraging the pupils towards independence and accepting responsibility for their own behaviour
  • Establish a good relationship with pupils by using language and other communication skills that the pupils can understand and relate to
  • Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies by the use of praise and encouragement
  • To undertake playground supervision during the mid-morning and/or afternoon breaks and to deal with unruly behaviour and, where necessary, report difficulties to a member of the teaching staff
  • Work under the direction of the teacher to prepare and maintain an effective learning environment, by preparing work materials and apparatus and clearing up afterwards
  • To take part in training activities offered by the school and Priory to further knowledge
  • To abide by and work towards all the policies within the school e.g. Health and Safety
  • To liaise regularly with the teacher and/or take part in planning meetings, inset days and any other meetings as required.

We can also offer you:

  • Comprehensive Training Package including scheduled ongoing face to face training and CPD planning
  • Company pension scheme plus a great benefits package
  • Plenty of opportunities to maximise earnings and career development
  • Enhanced disclosure cost coverage.
