Job Advert Location Description

Priory Hospital Market Weighton is a registered male independent hospital, supporting individuals with learning disabilities, behaviours that challenge and mental health issues. Situated in the attractive town of Market Weighton and within a short drive of York and Hull, the service is ideally located for safe, structured and gradual reintegration into the local community.

The purpose built hospital is an open service with a locked door policy and can accommodate up to 18 service users in four distinct areas, providing a care pathway to support them in their recovery and rehabilitation.

Our aim is to support service users through their care pathway towards their individual goals and is designed to promote autonomy, safety management and transparent collaborative care planning.

Job Advert Role Description

As part of the Support Services team, our Chefs provide a high quality service to our service users through the creation, presentation and delivery of meals. Working with a team of Catering Assistants, the successful candidate will assist with the provision of the catering service with particular emphasis on the planning, preparation and cooking of meals.

Division DBS info

Chef/Cook required, to plan meals (max 24 at once) for adults with learning disabilities (and the staff that support them), using small commercial kitchen in a registered hospital. 



* Present a choice of balanced, healthy meals for service users, ensuring that dietary requirements are taken into account and that all food is attractively presented.


* Maintain a sanitary kitchen by adhering to Assured Safe Catering policies, storage and refrigeration requirements and cleaning equipment.


Shifts worked on a rotation  9.30-630 weekdays, weekends 0830-0530.


 You will need:

•           Good communication skills

•           Ability to work flexibility

•           Basic Literacy skills

•           Common sense approach to problem solving

•           Basic numeracy skills

•           Motivation and initiative

•           Some appreciation of mental health

•           NVQ or equivilant.

•           Food Safety Qualification
