Job Advert Location Description

Abbey House is a recovery-oriented psychiatric rehabilitation service that offers short, medium and long term care to male patients suffering from mental health difficulties. 

Abbey House offers 20 bedrooms within the main unit where patients may be admitted from stepping down from secure services (acute wards and PICU hospitals) and also from the community. 

In addition to the main unit, independent living flats are available with an extra 5 bedrooms specifically for the use of open and community rehabilitation.

The Hospital is set within spacious landscaped grounds with wonderful views providing a calming and tranquil setting.

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for caring and committed individuals who want to work with a company that understands how important support workers are to our patient’s recovery.


As a Health Care Worker you must be willing to provide:

•           An excellent caring service in conjunction with the qualified nursing team

•           Be actively involved in patient care

•           Maintain and develop high standards of care for our patients while being aware of their individual needs and care programmes

•           Contribute towards effective communication, by reporting to the nurse in charge any information given by patient/relative, incident or observation which may affect patients' physical/mental well-being

•           Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and comfortable ward environment in accordance with health and safety standards

•           To support patients on their recovery pathway, to include shopping ADLs, encouragement of all group and individual activities, drivers required for home leave escorts and local area trips and activities.


Shift patterns are: 07:30am - 19:45pm and 19:30pm - 07:45am with 1.5hrs break each shift.


The person specification requirements:


•           Empathetic and have a desire to make a difference

•           Passionate about forming therapeutic relationships

•           Committed to a person-centered approach to recovery

•           Enthusiastic about working as part of a dedicated team

•           Resilient and able to work under pressure


A full clean driving licence is desirable but this is not essential.
