Oak Vale Gardens is an 18-bed specialist neuro-rehabilitation care home with nursing for men and women with diagnoses that include acquired brain injury and complex neurological conditions.

The two self-sufficient units, Stephenson and Unwin, are designed with the needs of the individual in mind. Oak Vale Gardens is part of the Cheshire Rehabilitation and Merseyside Network.

Oak Vale Gardens is a purpose-built welcoming place which offers accommodation in easily-accessed grounds with car parking facilities, close to local transport links and motorway networks.


Job Advert Role Description

Job Purpose


Our Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist role involves:


Offering clinical input to and overseeing the specialised neurobehavioural rehabilitation programme whilst working closely with the multi discplinary team

Delivering clinical neuropsychology into the service

Actively engaging and contributing to appropriate local networks

Forming positive relationships with commissioners of services

Ensuring the suitability of referrals made to the service quickly, efficiently and helpfullyl

Contributing to the supervision and specialist training of members of the transdisciplinary team

Establishing and maintaining a research culture within the service


To be successful as Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, you’ll need:


Professional Qualifications & Memberships

Recipient of a BPS accredited and HCPC approved Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent

Registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC

Chartered Member of the BPS and member of the Division of Neuropsychology

The ideal candidate would have undertaken post doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology and be entered on the BPS Special Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists


Professional Competencies & Experience:


Track record of effectively delivering clinical neuropsychology input to neurobehavioural rehabilitation services for people with ABI with severe challenging behaviour

Acknowledged as having expertise in, and an advocate of, neurobehavioural rehabilitation

Advanced skills to assess, formulate, intervene and evaluate complex cases, requiring the ability to manage multifaceted information, working in conjunction with service users and the transdisciplinary team, and drawing from a range of applicable therapeutic, evidence-based psychological therapies.
