Job Advert Role Description

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK.  With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties.

The school has been specifically designed to provide a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society.  Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance.  The school welcomes students on a day or weekly residential basis for 38 weeks per year.

As a Bank Learning Support Assistant you will be a key member of our education support team, working as part of a specialist team of teachers and therapists to deliver personalised curriculum packages that motivate and inspire our students. Experience as a teaching assistant would be useful, but as long as you have the communication and caring skills required for this role and a willingness to learn, we will give you all the training and development you need to succeed.

Whilst not essential, experience of supporting children with SLD and complex needs would be an advantage.

Our Bank workers are trained to the same level as our permanent staff and are treated as an integral part of the team. Successful candidates will contribute to the effective implementation of individual programmes by supporting the teaching and learning, social and independence activities and experiences, which enhance the learning and development of children and Young People.

You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience is essential.
