Job Advert - Division Information

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK.

Job Advert Location Description

With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Farleigh Further Education College Frome is an independent specialist residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

The college has eight residential houses in the community each with its own identity, working ethos and dedicated team of staff. This provides learners with the opportunity to experience independent living in a range of different settings.

We aim to provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

Our dedicated team of staff create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our learners have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.

Job Advert Role Description

This role has a dual purpose, one aspect is to support the Referrals Manager with admissions and the other is to co-ordinate transitions for students who are in their final year of placement.

The successful candidate must be passionate about working with our students to help them achieve positive outcomes. This is a busy and challenging role which requires strong administration skills and a flexible approach. Great communication skills are a must, as you will be working closely with a wide range of external stakeholders including potential students and their parents, local authorities, agencies and other educational establishments, as well as internal stakeholders and of course our current cohort of students.

We are looking for an outstanding team player who can: -

  • Take enquiries from potential parents and students via telephone calls, emails and referrals from the central enquiries team.
  • Arrange and carry out visits with potential parents and students at the College.
  • Take part in the assessment and the discussion as to whether we are a suitable provision and best placed to meet a young person’s needs.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the local authorities.
  • Gather relevant admissions documentation that will be relevant for Ofsted purposes.
  • Communicate closely with Care Coordinators, Head of Education and House managers with midterm starters and arrange start dates, correct documentation being put in place and education programme being ready.
  • Manage all referrals documentation in line with GDPR guidelines
  • Identify which students should be applying to university and coordinating visits to universities as required.
  • Liaise with the therapy team, Careers Advisor and the young people.
  • Research and investigate potential options for students in their local areas
  • Create transition reports for reviews – these will need to outline potential plan for the next year or state why the student will need another year. Local authorities will want robust plans, including a Plan A and Plan B.

Experience of working with young people with challenging, complex and diverse needs would be an advantage, and preferably some knowledge of autistic spectrum disorders and Asperger’s syndrome.

This is a fixed term post to December 2019 to cover a period of maternity leave.
