Job Advert Role Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Residential Support Worker to join our children's home based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This home is a medium to long-term placement for up to 4 residents and seeks to supply outcomes for planned admissions but emergency referrals are considered. We places high value on relationships with and between young people and staff and it is these relationships that are central to the work that is undertaken with the young people. This work might include supporting young people in education; encouraging them to attend local clubs and activities; ensuring all health needs are met; helping them develop skills for independent living; building resilience; increasing self-esteem; and equipping them with the knowledge and ability to keep themselves safe. 

As a Senior Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our young people. Senior support workers are accountable for the shift ensuring that the shift runs smoothly and allocating duties to the Support workers. You will ensure that you are supportive to the staff team and share out responsibilities. The senior support Worker will lead the team in difficult incidents, ensuring all documents are completed when on shift. Ensuring the home is kept to a high standard, clean and tidy daily. The senior is to support the Manager and the Deputy in running the home effectively.  

Our Senior Support Worker roles in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire  offer a salary of up to up to £18,880 per annum plus £35 nightly sleep in allowance. There is an opportunity for overtime if desired.

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following:

  • Supporting the management to run a successful staff team and all day to day operations of the home
  • To assist the management team with the supervisions of junior staff
  • Inducting new staff into the homes procedure and culture
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the young people’s physical, behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Assist senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour.
  • You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies
  • Support and encourage educational engagement

Level 3 in Children and Young People qualification is essential for this role. Successful applicants will need to have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour.

Due to the rural location of the home near Mansfield, and duties involved supporting the young people you would need to be a driver and have a valid driving licence.

Hours

A family is 24/7 and so are we. We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. As a Support Worker, in our Home you can you should be happy to work a shift rota system that includes working some weekends and bank holidays. This role will include some double shifts with sleep in’s. Rotas are planned in advance.
