Job Advert Location Description

Stockton Hall is a highly specialist hospital where patients requiring a medium secure care setting can maximise value from therapeutic interventions. Our services have produced excellent recovery results for patients and they are able to progress to low secure or locked rehabilitation if possible.

The facility is split across seven wards as follows:

16 bedded female ward - Mental Health and Personality Disorder
16 bedded male ward - Personality Disorder
8 bedded elderly male ward - for those with a settled in presentation in need of rehabilitation for mental illness and/or personality disorders
Two 24 bedded male wards for mental health focus

Job Advert Role Description

You will work under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist and the Senior VTI to provide vocational rehabilitation opportunities for patients both within and external to the hospital.

Currently, we are focused on expanding the vocational aspect of the service into the community, and the post holder will be expected to liaise with outside agencies in accessing work schemes / volunteering and setting up new opportunities for the patient group to address realistic work / volunteering opportunities to the portfolio of opportunities we currently offer patients within the hospital.

You must be passionate about addressing social inclusion with this challenging patient group.  You will also be involved in creating and delivering educational programmes which support patients in gaining recognised vocational qualifications.  These could be delivered as part of the Recovery College.

A further aspect of the role is to support patients in every aspect of working in the hospital shafé (shop/café).  This will include serving customers, ordering stock, handling money and liaising closely with the business office, as well as being responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of equipment, and maintaining good health and safety practice. 

You will work with patients in safe and supportive environments, providing vocational interventions which meet patient’s needs and choices yet are thoroughly risk assessed for a medium secure environment.

You will be computer literate and be able to demonstrate ability to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of a range of individuals, including people with autism and complex needs.
