Job Advert Role Description

Gateholme provides assessment and support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis but who may present complex conditions. Some of our service users also have communication difficulties or predominately have dual diagnosis, as well as a range of other disabilities such as Epilepsy, Down’s Syndrome and Dementia.

The service offers 24/7 specialist residential support and is committed to providing just enough support to empower and encourage individuals to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible and achieve positive outcomes for all. The service is also supported by a quality assurance team including a specialist Learning Disability Advisor whose aim is to empower service users to take control of their lives, and where possible, work towards a level of independence which fits with their skills, confidence and aspirations.

Main Purpose

Transports people and goods to and from a variety of locations, in order to assist with the operation of the home. 


1. Drives residents/staff to a variety of different activities, ensuring that the journey is completed in a safe and timely manner, using the most efficient route. Complies at all times with Priory Driving Policy.

2. Drives staff and other visitors to/from the unit as required by the line manager. Collects and delivers consumables or assets for the unit.

3. Ensures that the home’s vehicles are cleaned regularly, and that any damage or faults are dealt with immediately. Also ensures that the vehicles are fuelled at all times.

4. Ensures that the home’s vehicles are maintained in the correct and safe manner, ensuring that all professional servicing is carried out in line with the manufacturer’s guidance.


5. Assists and supports local home management with developing and implementing new improves services.


6. Ensure the home’s vehicles are well maintained and provide a flexible and responsive service that offers value for money.

Knowledge & Skills

Basic numeracy and literacy. Must hold a full UK driving license.


Likely some previous experience gained within an appropriate driving-based role.
