Ty Catrin Hospital is a 45 bedded  forensic hospital providing a secure environment consisting of, low and open rehabilitation settings  for men and women with mental illness and or personality disorder.

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to work at  Ty Catrin Hospital with an agreed case load.


Our Consultant Psychiatrist role involves:

•           Providing clinical leadership to a successful multi-disciplinary team

•           Managing specialist mental health, behavioural and psychological needs of patients suffering mental disorder

•           Attending team meetings

•           Assessing and treating new referrals

•           Being involved with CPA/CTPs, review meetings and Mental Health Review Tribunals

•           Being available for crisis and on-call work

•           Responding to the need for psychiatric input

•           Dealing with some physical problems within your sphere of expertise that are drawn to your attention

•           Taking part in clinical and interdisciplinary activities within the service

•           Keeping up to date with current practices (journals, meetings and conferences)

•           Being familiar with and complying with the policies and procedures laid down in the policy manual

•           Interfacing with other Priory Services to share best practice, clinical audit and research

•           Interfacing externally to develop and manage person-centred pathways with other commissioning and provider services

•           Being part of an out of hours on call rota

•           Participate in appraisal and revalidation in line with Priory policy


To be successful as Consultant Psychiatrist, you’ll need:

•           Drive to learn and develop

•           Commitment to patient-centred care and to values-based and evidence-based practice

•           A flexible, positive, team-orientated approach

•           GMC and Defence Society Membership

•           Substantive consultants need to be on the GMC Specialist register for adult psychiatry, rehabilitation psychiatry or forensic psychiatry

•           Have to be an approved clinician in Wales  and section 12 approved doctor
