The North London Clinic provides a full care pathway from medium secure, low secure to a locked rehabilitation wing. The full multidisciplinary team works with men who have a diagnosis of mental disorder and associated challenging behavior.

Job Summary:

To deliver a high quality clinical service to patients. To work closely with the unit’s wards, multi-disciplinary teams, the Responsible Clinician and the visiting General Practitioner to ensure that patients receive a holistic and person-centric treatment programme based on the recovery model.

 

Main Responsibilities of the post

The post holder will demonstrate responsibility for:

  • Undertake psychiatric and external assessments for clients referred to the unit hospital to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure delivery of the Care Programme.
  • Prepare discharge summaries, reports and other associated documentation as necessary e.g. for CPA meetings, as directed and supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist
  • To be part of the daily handover for the hospital.
  • To ensure personal mandatory training and appraisal compliance is up to date.
  • Participation in learning activities and supervision.
  • Participation in Clinical Governance activities, and account for contracted hours utilised in research, Continuing Professional Development and other non-clinical duties as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • The post holder will be expected to support the GP in delivering physical health care and emergency treatment to patients in complex care.
  • Arrange appropriate clinical tests and investigations and take responsibility for chasing following up the expected results and acting on them in a timely manner.
  • Ensure physical observations by ward staff are carried out in accordance with medical instructions. Review physical observation findings and act upon them in a clinically appropriate manner.
  • To be aware of regulatory compliance and standards and that they are adhered to (CQC and QNMHS).
  • Specialty Doctors are expected to participate actively in clinical audits undertaken by the Consultant Psychiatrists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Any other duties considered to be commensurate with the level of the post.
  • Out of hours’ duties are not currently expected of the post holders.

Knowledge and Experience

  • The post holder will demonstrate the following knowledge and experience:
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration and license to practice
  • Proven record of CPD (Continued Professional Development)
  • Confidentiality
