Southern Peninsula Services specialises in high quality residential and educational provisions for children between 7-19 who may have Learning Difficulities including Autism. The safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people who may have experienced challenges in their lives is always paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their full potential.

 

Southern Peninsula Services currently have two educational settings, Quay View School, which is a provision for children with SEMH and Tor View School due to open shortly, which is a provision for children with Learning Difficulties and Autism and will have a residential facility. There are also three childrens homes and one due to open shortly, these are all homes in the community and are located in the West Devon / South-East Cornwall locality.

 

The Role will be based at Tor View School in the Residential Facility where children will be based to access the education facilities. 

 

As a Residential Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our service users. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families and other stakeholders, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in teaching them life skills. Both personal care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.

Candidates must have either:

•           A Level 3 Diplomas in Children or Young People's Workforce or willingness to undertake this qualification within a robust timescale

This role includes weekends and evening work.

 

Salary will increase after sucessful completion of Induction Framework and Probationary period of up to £16,880.91/£20,257.09 (dependant on hours).  There is opportunity to further progress under this Framework achieving a maximum salary of £18,223.48/£21,868.18 expected within 6-12 months. 

 

You will be expected to work evening, nights and weekend shifts and will hours will be arranged around when children are based at the school but this won't necessarily be term-time only as the service will be open 52 weeks a year. You'll work 3 weeks of day shifts and 7 night shifts, worked in a block of 3 and a block of 4 within a month.

 

The school is located just outside of Tavistock and whilst not essential to drive there is no public transport directly to the school.
