Specialising in the management and treatment of mental health problems including addictions and eating disorders, our multidisciplinary team deliver personalised treatment programmes and have established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care.

Job Advert Role Description

The CAMHS Eating Disorder Unit at Priory Roehampton is an 18 bedded inpatient service providing treatment for adolescents with complex eating disorders. It is situated within the Priory Roehampton hospital site which in addition hosts a general adolescent ward, adult eating disorders services and private and NHS adult acute psychiatric units.

There are 2 consultant posts on the unit, the successful candidate will assume consultant responsibility for at least 8 patients ensuring effective and safe care for these patients. The consultant will work with the multidisciplinary team of nurses, dieticians, psychologists, occupational therapists, social worker, teachers and family therapists to provide comprehensive treatment including medical monitoring, nutritional rehabilitation, a variety of therapeutic interventions e.g. RO- DBT, CBT-E, sensory integration therapy, family therapy and family groups. Together with the ward manager and consultant colleagues the post holder will be responsible for service development and clinical governance. Other responsibilities include teaching to medical students and supervision of ward doctors.

Priory healthcare is the largest provider of inpatient eating disorder services across the UK for adults and adolescents. All units contribute to a clinical network group that ensures the development of clear guidelines and standards and the training and delivery of evidenced based treatment across the organisation. The consultant will have the opportunity to play a role in both the CAMHS clinical network and ED clinical network groups within Priory and to work with general CAMHS service on site to develop joint treatment pathways. In addition the consultant will have the opportunity to develop private outpatient practice should they wish to do so.

On call off site Out of Hours commitment on a shared rota for the specialist services required.
