Job Advert Role Description

Talocher School is a specialist school for up to 50 girls and boys aged 7 to 19 with with social, emotional and mental health and/or a range of complex learning and communication difficulties. The school provides a warm, welcoming and relaxed environment for young people who are unable to attend mainstream education because of their additional learning needs.

  • Can you meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable and challenging children in the education system?
  • Are you resilient, positive, calm and committed to maximising pupils achievements? If this sounds familiar, then Priory Talocher School in Monmouth could be for you!

We require an English teacher for a maternity cover, who can teach up to and including GCSE. You will be confident in delivering to a wide variety of needs, including children on the Autistic Spectrum and children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

The successful candidate will join an established team of education, care and specialist therapy professionals working together to support student progress. You will receive a bespoke induction package.

Experience in a Special School setting or in managing challenging behaviours and ASC would, of course, be an advantage – but this exciting post could also suit a newly qualified teacher with an interest in and desire to learn more about special needs.
