Job Advert Location Description

Suttons Manor is a specialist low secure forensic service for men who are over the age of 50.

Care is provided over two wards, both of which are 13 bedded male units and offer an age appropriate environment for those who also have a mental health/personality disorder and/or dementia, in need of physical health care needs.

The hospital is set in its own attractive grounds of over 9 acres near the town of Romford in Essex. Convenient access is provided by the M25, and the nearby underground station at Theydon Bois, which is on the Central Line, or rail station at Romford.

Job Advert Role Description

Under the direction of the Chef, the role holder will be required to demonstrate creative skills, resolve routine issues associated in preparation and serving of food, this will include following guidelines, recipes and other processes required for the delivery of the high quality food service provision.

The postholder may receive direction from either the Chef or Assistant Cook (all reference to directions from the Chef include directions either the Chef or Assistants Cook)

 

Main Activities

1. Food Preparation: Under the direction / supervision of the Chef, using a range of kitchen equipment and tools, assist in the assembly, production, cooking and storage of food, where appropriate to ensure sufficient food products are made ready for transportation. 

2. Food Service: As directed by the Chef, undertake a range of (rota’s) food serve duties, this would include ensuring that food is properly portioned and accounted for, cleaning and emptying vending machines and where directed replenish and maintain the machines, drink vendors and where appropriate reporting of faults.

3.  Product Knowledge: When required be able to provide information relating to the menu items and how they are produced, including the main ingredients and basic product knowledge, advise all service users on menu items.

4. Domestic Duties: in accordance with safer food for business legislation complete routine cleaning programmes of all kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces. Undertake dish and pot washing domestic duties, Ensure the kitchen and unit kitchens and other designated areas / surfaces are cleaned to the required standards. When required prepare / clean designated areas such as the Barn (e.g. setting out / cleaning / clearing tables, chairs, counter / surfaces hot box, cutlery and other perquisites for the Barn dining area)

5. Other: To work as part of a team, contribute to the induction of new staff into the kitchen environment, e.g. such as shadowing, take responsibility for continuing self-development; participate in training and development activities including undertaking training required to meet service and government standards / regulations, which may be held at north London clinic.

5. The postholder may occasionally be required to work overtime, on functions outside normal working hours 

 

The above mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the Postholder may be called upon to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required by the Line Manager (Head Chef) within the grading level of the post and the competence of the postholder.
