Priory Hospital Burgess Hill supports both male and female patients with varying needs in its Medium Secure, Low Secure, HDU and Acute Wards. Burgess Hill was rated Good by the CQC following their recent inspection.

Burgess Hill is set in 11 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside, it has educational, occupational and sporting facilities, including a sports hall, tennis court and gymnasium, along with various communal recreation areas. There is a library, art room and rehab practice kitchen. The site also facilitates and runs recovery college courses

Priory Hospital Burgess Hill hosts a number of staff events throughout the year including an annual Summer BBQ to celebrate staff long service awards. Burgess Hill also has a well attended CPD programme and supports staff in their professional and career development.

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to support the ward in delivering therapeutic care and appropriate vocational activity to the women on our programme. The candidate recruited to this post will be required to:

  •  Take an active role in the DBT agenda on the unit by designing, planning and facilitating DBT skills groups and other ancillary groups; supporting service users to complete therapeutic tasks; and offering targeted, individual DBT sessions to service users.
  •  Providing comprehensive OT assessment and treatment to enable patients to achieve their maximum level of functional independence and to enhance their sense of wellbeing through engagement in occupation.
  •  Leading in developing vocational opportunities and qualifications for patients to engage with and achieve.
  • Clinical supervision and leadership of other OT and nursing staff within the service and the wider hospital.
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments with service users as required

This role would suit a reliable, committed, forward-thinking individual with a passion for working in a psychologically-minded environment. It would be especially appropriate for those seeking to develop psychotherapeutic skills. As this role is to support service users with complex mental health difficulties, successful candidates would gain insight into working with a range of mental health issues.
