Southern Peninsula Services specialises in high quality residential and educational provisions for children between 7-19 who may have Learning Difficulities including SEMH and Autism. The safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people who may have experienced challenges in their lives is always paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their full potential.

Southern Peninsula Services currently have an educational setting, Quay View School and two Childrens Homes; we are also due to open another school in Tavistock and another home in the Okehampton area this year. All our locations situated within the Tamar Valley and West Devon localities 

We are looking for enthusiastic staff to join the teams in our children's home near Gunnislake. During your training period you will become familiar with our induction, competency and growth framework. This framework will ensure that you have competent training, mentoring and supervision to provide you with a chosen career path within social care which will be recognised with an attractive pay progression.

The role involves providing support to the Registered Manager, ability to run shifts including organising, monitoring and evidencing young people's activities. To also support in the line management of a small team of residential support workers to include, mentoring, supervision and training

What we'd like from you:

  •  To have an ethos where safeguarding is paramount
  •  To be calm under pressure, an excellent communicator and be able to offer a high degree of flexibility
  • To hold a minimum Level 3 Diploma (preferably Level 5) in Children and Young People's Workforce and be prepared to work towards Level 5 Diploma.
  • To have previous experience in care setting, particularly working with Special Education Needs or residential child care
  • To have knowledge of budgets, monitoring and auditing
  • To have experience at a supervisory or senior level

This role includes weekends and evening work.

There is opportunity to further progress under this Framework achieving a maximum salary of £26,322 expected within 6-12 months.

Some of the homes are located in a rural setting so own transport is desired.
