Stockton Hall is a highly specialist 112 bedded hospital where patients requiring medium security can maximise the value of therapeutic interventions available.  The patient group consists of men and women with /Mental Illness and/or Personality Disorder and men with mild to moderate Learning Disability / Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking to recruit members of the public to become Associate Hospital Managers from York and the surrounding areas.

These are voluntary, lay people who oversee hearings to review the care, treatment and detention of patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act (MHA).

They decide, based upon written and oral evidence from healthcare professionals, if the patient can be discharged from their section of the MHA.

Associate Hospital Managers do not require any specific skills or qualifications as full training will be provided, however absolute confidentiality is essential and an interest in mental health issues and good communication skills are desirable.  Relevant experience will also be taken into account

The role is on average 2/3 afternoons per month, a sessional fee of £50.00 plus reasonable travelling expenses will be paid.
