Job Advert Location Description

The Priory Hospital Glasgow provides a peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by relaxing landscaped gardens and is the perfect environment for treatment. With over 30 inpatients at any time, we also cater for over 400 outpatients who seek our services for psychological services without disrupting their daily lives.

In January 2015, the Glasgow Hospital was awarded the Priory’s “Site of the Year”. This is a demonstration of the Hospital’s strong clinical reputation, founded upon the quality of its care and expertise.

We are one of the UK’s leading centres for the treatment of depression, anxiety and addictions. The hospital is led by an e­ffective and experienced multidisciplinary team. They work together to develop personalised, recovery-focused treatment programmes and care pathways, as well as a range of therapies, to meet all of their patients’ needs.

In addition our Eating Disorder Unit is the largest specialist inpatient unit of its kind in Scotland and due to the quality of its care patients come for treatment from all over the UK. In May 2015 the unit was included in the Quality Network for Eating Disorders (QED) under the Royal College of Surgeon’s Accreditation for Inpatient Mental Health Services (AIMS).


Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking a committed team player to assist in our busy Housekeeping team.


The role:

Shift pattern Monday – Friday 07.30-12.30, (4 days over 7)

•           Providing a domestic cleaning service, as per the cleaning specification, in both clinical and non-clinical areas

•           Organising domestic routines to compliment the routines of ward and departments wherever possible

•           Performing both dry and damp cleaning techniques on all surfaces, furniture, walls and equipment, as required

•           Ensuring the required hygiene standards are maintained in washing areas, including toilets

•           Emptying waste bins and disposing of waste in accordance with hospital policy

•           Both dry mopping and vacuuming all flooring surfaces as applicable in clinical/non-clinical areas

•           Wet mopping floors and using floor maintenance equipment as appropriate and as per scheduled cleaning rota

•           Operating steam/carpet-cleaning equipment and undertaking steam/carpet-cleaning procedures as required

•           Ensuring contact with patients, carers, staff and visitors to the hospital is appropriate, helpful, polite and effective

•           Ensuring safe working techniques are practised at all times

•           Managing the laundry procedures and required volumes of laundry, thereby preventing unnecessary build- up

•           Ensuring that there is always an adequate supply of detergent and fabric conditioner

•           Being responsible for the maintenance of the laundry equipment and the daily de-fluffing of the dryer(s), reporting any defects to the Housekeeping Supervisor

•           Ensuring that the correct procedures are followed regarding the handling of soiled and infectious linen

•           Keeping the laundry room and store areas in a clean and hygienic condition

•           Performing other reasonable duties as may be required

The successful candidate will help deliver an efficient and high quality accommodation and housekeeping service within the Hospital to assist the well-being, comfort and development of our patients.  Previous Housekeeping experience is desirable but not essential.
