Job Advert Location Description

Woodland view is a male only Recovery and Rehabilitation service for working age adults.  Individuals may be admitted informally or detained under the Mental Health Act.  We are located in ‘middle England’ and the site offers picturesque grounds, which are enjoyed by both staff and individuals currently resident at Woodland View.


The unit comprises 31 beds over 3 wards.  This includes: high dependency, complex care and community.  In essence as a person progresses on their journey of recovery they will move to the most appropriate ward suited to their needs.  The ultimate aim to ensure individuals receive tailored care and intervention to equip them on their life long journey, in the extended community.


Fantastic opportunities are available at Woodland view through our integrated occupational therapy department, who work in collaboration with individuals and the wider team to maximise independent living skills. 

Job Advert Role Description

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively as a Deputy Ward Manager have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

You will welcome a challenge and have a real desire to make a difference to the care we provide.  You will be a motivated and committed nurse, who is passionate about recovery.  You should have the ability to manage your own time effectively to meet the needs of your ward.

You will be central to providing high quality care within a Rebailitation and Recovery setting.  The patient group includes those with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness and or disorder. 

A personalised recovery approach is adopted within our team and in keeping with best practices co production of care will be expected.  You will be contributing to the assessment of needs, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs of care for individuals admitted on the ward.

You will be conversant in risk management, and have experience of managing shifts. The workload is fast paced and varied.  In order for us to achieve best applications of therapeutic interventions your ability to problem solve and support those with lived experience of mental health during times of distress is fundamental.

You will supervise the work of junior staff, ensuring the highest possible standard of nursing care in accordance with the Policies and Procedures of the Priory Group, the Mental Health Act and all other legalisation. You will be responsible for deputising for the ward manager in their absence.

You will demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative whilst working as part of a team.  Have a clear vision for best practice.  Whilst also having an ability to develop relationships across professional and organisational boundaries.

You will be supported during your orientation and development.  Ongoing support will be provided by the nursing directorate.  You can expect to have regular supervision and will be aligned to a career pathway.  This post will offer the opportunity to develop your career in a challenging and demanding arena, whilst at the same time become part of a supportive and valued team of multi professionals. 


Responsibilities also include (not exhaustive):

• Provision of out of hours On-Call support on a rota basis to the West Midlands Region. 

• Assisting the Ward Manager in Rota Management

• Contributing to audits, interviews and assesments of new referals.
