Job Advert Location Description

Priory Lakeside View cares for men and women with mental health needs in both an acute setting and a locked personality disorder treatment and rehabilitation setting.

The hospital has 32 beds comprising of 16 personality disorder rehabilitation beds and 16 acute mental health beds.

Lakeside View’s versatility allows us to manage complex needs in a safe and therapeutic environment, and to support and promote independence.

Job Advert Role Description

Reporting to the Support Services Manager you will be responsible for providing structured administrative processes to ensure Lakeside View is in compliance with the Mental Health Act (1983).

The role requires exceptional organisational skills as you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and secure storage of legal documentation for each patient. You must also ensure relevant professionals are aware of any key dates when they need to be involved in a patient’s care.

Your excellent communication skills will enable you to develop relationships with our patient’s relatives, where appropriate and liaise with key contacts within the healthcare sector. You will also have the confidence to participate in Mental Health Act audits and liaise with CQC during any planned and unannounced visits.

Experience of working in a customer focused environment is essential; previous experience of working within the NHS or healthcare sector would be beneficial.



1.To have a comprehensive understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007)

2.The post holder will liaise with the hospital managers to arrange appropriate meetings for renewals and reviews of detention and ensuring that the managers keep up to date with relevant sections of the act.

3.To securely maintain the legal papers for the patients detained at the hospital in line with both local and national policy frameworks.

4.To offer support to the hospital manager and the approved clinician surrounding the legal frameworks of the act.

5.Prepare assessments, case notes and other clinical reports and documentation relating to the patients and their treatment.

6.Draft letters and undertake filing and general administrative duties.

7.Arrange pre-admission assessments and other appointments for and on behalf of the clinical team.

8.Arrange internal and external meetings, which incorporates the following:

-Producing, updating and maintaining meeting programmes.

-Requesting, collating and preparing reports from both internal and external bodies.

-Liaising with internal and external professionals, Tribunal Office and Ministry of Justice.

-Inviting relevant people to meetings.

-Booking board room and organising refreshments.

-Minute taking.

-Keep diary and make appointments.

-Typing, filing and distributing Clinical Update Information as and when needed to Patient Funders.-To ensure that the staff team receive support to enable them to advise the current patient population on the legal frameworks for appeals to the tribunal service and hospital managers.

1.The post-holder will be representing our services as a main point of contact and will need to have highly developed professional standards in their approach to all visitors, patients and staff.

2.The post-holder has a duty to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills to undertake the tasks required of them and should seek clarification, training and guidance in any areas of deficit or uncertainty.



1.The post-holder will have access to a wide range of confidential information relating to patients, staff and the company which must not be divulged to any unauthorised person in any circumstances.

2.The post-holder must be proficient in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, be able to prioritise their workload and have the ability to be undertake complex and detailed information analysis.
