Job Advert Location Description

Mildmay Oaks is a low secure and locked rehabilitation service for men with learning disability and autism spectrum disorder, and for women with learning disability.

We are 2 minutes from Winchfield Train Station and we offer a taxi service in the winter to and from the station

Job Advert Role Description

The post holder will work to provide a safe and secure environment for patients to work through their emotions focusing on communication through the use of art materials in an undirected way. They will work closely with other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.


The role encompasses:-


•           Taking referrals, including self-referrals and referrals from other professionals

•           Making referrals to other professionals

•           Attending meetings and conferences to share ideas, expertise and good practice

•           Assessing the needs of the patient by listening and providing guidance

•           Working creatively with various patient groups in a therapeutic setting

•           Working in a group or one-to-one setting

•           Enable clients to explore their art work and the process of its production

•           Assessing and understanding the feelings or temperament of others

•           Constructively challenging the behaviour and attitude of patients

•           Keeping up-to-date with administration: making phone calls, writing reports and case notes; and drafting letters to professionals

•           Planning, designing and facilitating a schedule of activities with individuals and groups

•           Maintaining art psychotherapy space and equipment

•           Exploring opportunities for work where it may not currently exist

•           Keeping up-to-date with continuing professional development (CPD) by attending seminars, lectures and workshops

•           Liaising with team members
