Southern Peninsula Services specialises in high quality residential and educational provisions for children between 8 - 18 who may have Learning Difficulities including SEMH and Autism. The safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people who may have experienced challenges in their lives is always paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their full potential.

Southern Peninsula Services currently have an educational setting, Quay View School, rated "Good" by Ofsted and two Childrens Homes; all situated within the Tamar Valley and West Devon localities 

Job Advert Role Description

Tor View School is a new education provision, due to open in summer 2018. It will be a diverse school which specialises in high quality day and residential educational provision for children aged between 8-18 with complex learning needs and challenging behaviour including Autism. We are part of Southern Pennisula Services, which includes Quay View School in Bere Alston and three children's homes situated in local communities in Devon and Cornwall.

We are opening an residential facility to work alongside our schools in Bere Alston and Tavistock, so this role with be term time only (38 weeks a year). We also have plans to open more homes 2018. We are looking for enthusiatic staff to join the existing teams in the schools and children's homes. During your training period may be initially based in one of our homes in Gunnislake or Tavistock areas. This is to enable you to become familiar with our induction, competency and growth framework. This framework will ensure that you have competent training, mentoring and supervision to provide you with a chosen career path within social care which will be recognised with an attractive pay progression.

As a Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our service users. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families and other stakeholders, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in teaching them life skills. Both personal care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.

Candidates must have either:

This role includes weekends and evening work.

Salary will increase after sucessful completion of Induction Framework and Probationary period of up to £20,007.  There is opportunity to further progress under this Framework achieving a maximum salary of £21,598 expected within 6-12 months.  For this role we are offering either 37.5 or 45 hour contracts so salary will vary dependent on your contractual hours.

The schools are located in a rural setting so own transport is desired
