Southern Peninsula Services specialises in high quality residential and educational provisions for children between 7-19 who may have EMSH and /or Autism. The safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people who may have experienced challenges in their lives is always paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their potential.

Southern Peninsula Services currently have 2 Childrens Homes with more opening this year and Chelfham Bere Alston School, rated "Good" by Ofsted, which is also looking to expand this year, all within the Tamar Valley, Tavistock and Launceston localities.

Job Advert Role Description

We opened an exciting new home in the Tavistock in January 2018. We also have plans to open more homes 2018. We are looking for enthusiatic staff to join the teams in these new homes. During your training period and until the homes open you may be initially based in one of our homes in Gunnislake area or Tavistock. This is to enable you to become familiar with our induction, competency and growth framework. This framework will ensure that you have competent training, mentoring and supervision to provide you with a chosen career path within social care which will be recognised with an attractive pay progression.

As a Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our service users. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families and other stakeholders, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in teaching them life skills. Both personal care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.

Candidates must have either:

This role includes weekends and evening work.

 

Salary will increase after sucessful completion of Induction Framework and Probationary period of up to £20,007.  There is opportunity to further progress under this Framework achieving a maximum salary of £21,598 expected within 6-12 months.  For this role we are offering either 37.5 or 45 hour contracts so salary will vary dependent on your contractual hours.

Interviews for the roles will take place in January and February.

Some of the homes are located in a rural setting so own transport is desired
