Burton Park is part of the Priory Brain Injury care pathway, which boasts extensive Brain Injury Services offered across 13 sites throughout the UK.

Priory Brain Injury Services (PBIS) provide highly specialised treatment programmes for people with acquired brain injury (ABI) grounded on national guidance and research; from acute medical rehabilitation and neurobehavioural rehabilitation through to long-term continuing care.

The diversity of our services allows a seamless care pathway for our patients as their rehabilitation needs change. Priory's Brain Injury Services is focused on using data to inform best practice, individualise care plans and measure patient outcomes

PBIS has been successfully delivering neurobehavioural rehabilitation and making a positive difference to people’s lives since 1985 to people with ABI, whose challenging behaviour prevents attainment of their maximum rehabilitation potential and personal autonomy.


Burton Park is a 50 bedded inpatient specialist neuro-rehabilitation service for treating and discharging people with complex neuropsychiatric needs.  The site is split across 3 units:

•  Warwick Lodge is currently undergoing a full refurbishment and is due to open in June 2018. It will specialise in providing support and care for people living with Huntington’s Disease.

•  Cleves Lodge specialise in ABI (including slow stream rehabilitation) and neurobehavioural disability

•  Dalby Unit - Female only unit, specialising in ABI or Progressive Neurological Conditions


Burton Park employs the full multidisciplinary range of services to provide rehabilitation and/or stabilisation of mood and behaviour. We provide individual treatment programmes with time-lined goals and objectives to support the resident to achieve optimum rehabilitation or behaviour stabilisation, to achieve their potential and to work towards successful, sustainable discharge.

Job Advert Role Description

The role of Physiotherapist is to manage patients with complex neurological needs using evidenced based and patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. 

It will also involve:

- Receiving and responding promptly to referrals undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.

- Maintaining accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s rehabilitation / progress and effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers and purchasers throughout the patients rehabilitation.

- Ensure the effective and efficient management and control of junior staff, as well as maintaining and developing close working relationships with other professionals within the multidisciplinary team, to ensuring that clinical practice is in line with Priory/PiC policies and procedures and comply with statutory regulations and quality standards.

- Contributes to business growth by actively promoting Priory’s therapy service, in line with the local unit’s business plan.

- Manages and co-ordinates the implementation of individual physiotherapy plans ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.



- Regularly reviews the service and price points to adjust to the demand of the service.

-  Ensures patients are receiving a service that is value for their money and objectives are being met to help the success of the unit.


Knowledge & Skills

- Educated to degree level with the CSP accreditation and HCPC registration.




- The role holder will require experience, including some within a Neurorehabilitation.


Autonomy & Impact

- Working to short-term objectives, the role holder generally operates within existing processes and procedures. The role holder has autonomy and authority for day to day clinical decisions.


Intelligent Problem Solving

- The majority of situations involve the application of acquired knowledge based upon previous intervention experience. The role holder has to balance conflicting operational demands, which may require adaptive thinking and some creative problem solving.



- Staff Supervision of less experienced colleagues and occasionally provides professional supervision to students.


Budgets & equipment

- Shared responsibility for ensuring the serviceability of equipment and for replenishing supplies of materials.



- Shared responsibility for the confidentiality, security and accuracy of patient records, data and information.


Communication & Interaction

- This role is focused upon regularly developing and maintaining productive relationships with patients through effective communication, coaching and counselling techniques and highly developed interpersonal skills.


Working environment

- The problems faced by patients frequently present challenging situations, which may increase the physical, sensory and/or emotional demands of the role.
