Set within landscaped gardens, the safe and supportive environment of the Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a comprehensive inpatient specialist mental health service for young people and adults. The service is dedicated to providing innovative, high quality care and treatment for service users with challenging and complex needs, in order to enable their recovery and re-engagement with the community.

Job Advert Role Description

An exciting opportunity exists for full-time experienced clinical psychologist to join a dynamic psychology department providing services to our specialist low secure unit for young women with an emerging personality disorder on the Cheadle Royal Hospital site.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of a high quality clinical psychology service to Woodlands Unit . Woodlands is a low secure unit for young women with a history of trauma who present with high levels of self harm and challenging behaviour. The post holder will be interested in developing and delivering innovative interventions and will have excellent skills in engaging with young people. Competence in the delivery of DBT (both in a group context and to individuals) is essential.

Suitable candidates will have a high level of knowledge and skills in assessment and intervention with young people with complex mental health needs, drawing flexibly on a range of models, theories and approaches in their work. They will enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Equally important to the role is the provision of consultancy, supervision and training to colleagues and participation in research, evaluation and service development as appropriate.

The psychology department has research links with the Universities of Manchester and Salford. Trainees from a number of different courses are regularly on specialist placements within the Cheadle Royal services.
