Job Advert Role Description

We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic Registered General Nurses to join the team with an interest in working in one of Priory's flagship mental health hospitals. The unit consists of 27 beds for both males and females. Our patients are privately funded. We also provide services for adults with OCD and some get funded via NHS care pathways.

You will join our predominantly RMN workforce to enhance our team's capabilities whilst you yourself will be developed in mental health. We have positions across all three of our wards.

The adolescent unit consists of 2 wards. Oak ward has 9 beds and Birch ward has 13 beds. The vast majority of our patients are funded by the NHS and referred from local NHS out-patient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We also provide services for adolescents with OCD and private patients. We work with 12 to 17 year olds presenting with a wide range of mental health problems, but particular specialities are with self harm. Many of our young people have experienced earlier abuse and neglect and have attachment difficulties and emotional dysregulation. Many of them are also Looked After Children.

We also have people with severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or Body Dysmorphic Disorder who are referred here for help. We will also provide training on-site for working with young people with these conditions.

We will also consider applicants who are looking for part-time work as well as full-time roles. Full training will be provided. Having experience in Addictions, Acute, OCD, CAMHS would be an advantage though full training will be given.

This unique opportunity will allow the successful candidate to gain experience in a multitude of specialist areas working in Adult Acute, Addictions and specialist OCD fields as well as CAMHS. This will allow you to expand your knowledge and skillset very quickly giving you an outstanding platform for your career. You will also gain experience working on NHS and private sectors to further widen your experience range.

We also have a demonstrable career pathway where nurses on our wards have progressed to become Charge Nurses, Ward Managers, Director of Clinical Services and Service/Site Managers of other sites. So this job is not just a job for you but a chance to progress through development and hard work.

Some of our nursing team have further developed with additional responsibilties as Designated Safeguarding Officers, qualified safeguarding trainers and PMVA trainers to name a few initiatives locally. We are often looking to promote from within.

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate their skills and experiences in engaging with patients, effectively managing risk and promoting patient involvement in their care and treatment.

You will want to work in a therapeutic environment that supports the patients move towards a safe, more independent future and be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills.

You will be involved in the assessment, planning and implementation of patient care. You will also be expected to attend daily multidisciplinary handover meetings, ward rounds and CPA meetings.
