Job Advert Location Description

Llanarth Court is a specialist hospital providing medium and low secure care for men and women with mental illness and/or personality disorder and for men with intellectual/learning disability. We also have a 4 bedded open rehabilitation bungalow. We are a sector-leading example of how providing a wide variety of care settings and a clear care pathway in the direction of recovery, can be achieved for all patients.

Job Advert Role Description

As part of our physical health care  team you will assist and support the Physical Health Nurse in the delivery of quality care, in relation to maintaining and improving physical health needs of patients.

As a Healthcare Worker you will be working within a team, which includes a range of professionals. You will make an effective contribution to providing high quality care within a medium secure forensic setting.

The patient group consists of both male and female individuals with a mental illness, learning disability , personality disorder or  enduring mental illnesses. You will need to take a positive approach to the management of challenging behaviour, 

Be a positive role model to patients and demonstrate an understanding of their needs. You will need to undertake mandatory training and adhere to physical, relational and procedural security of the hospital

You will work within an identified career development pathway and be expected to complete appropriate competency development portfolios.

 

Key duties:

- To support the physical health nurse to perform physical health checks including ECG , routine physical observations and take bloods

To assist in organising physical health clinics. Help monitor chronic conditions and offer health promotion 

 

Role requirements/Qualifications: (Please update to what is relevant to the role)

•           Demonstrate ability to take bloods, perform ECG and routine physical observations Good communication skills

  • First Aid qualification and Basic Life

•           Ability to work flexibly

•           Basic Literacy skills

•           Common sense approach to problem solving

•           Basic numeracy skills

•           Motivation and initiative

•           Some appreciation of Mental Health problems

•           Education to GCSE Standard

•           NVQ or equivalent would be an advantage.
