The Priory Hospital Altrincham is located in a beautifully appointed and tranquil part of Cheshire. With access to an on-site Doctor 24 hours a day, we ensure a safe and comfortable atmosphere at all times. Our senior consultant and therapist-led teams are also supported by 24 hour, expert nursing care. 

We are one of the UK’s leading centres for the treatment of depression, anxiety and addictions and we provide consultant and therapist-led treatments for 50 patients on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

The striking manor-style house which stands upon beautiful, landscaped grounds provides a peaceful and homely feel to the hospital, delivering the perfect environment for treatment.

Job Advert Role Description

There is currently a Full time vacancy for a Consultant at The Priory Hospital-Altrincham working within our inpatient CAMHS 15 bedded specialist eating disorder service and outpatient clinic.

The Consultant Psychiatrist is part of, and provides the clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team that aspires to provide excellent bespoke care to enable our patients to fulfil their recovery goals and work towards discharge.  The Consultant is responsible for leading the medical care of patients in their allocated caseload (ten patients), supervising their allocated Speciality Doctor and leading the multidisciplinary team.

The role holder will have a case load of ten inpatients on Rivendell Ward.


Additionally the post holder will hold outpatient clinics for 2 days a week to provide the assessment and treatment of under 18 year olds.

Clinical duties include leading ward rounds, CPA meetings, risk meetings and care plan meetings and leading treatment pathways for each patient. The role holder will re required to provide reports for CPA meetings and for the Hospital Managers, Mental Health Tribunal and Commissioners.  Additionally the role holder will be required to participate in site wide meetings including Clinical Governance and to take an active role in liaising with outside agencies promoting and developing the service.


The role holder will be required to participate in the Consultant on call rota.
