Stockton Hall is a highly specialist hospital where patients requiring a medium secure care setting can maximise value from therapeutic interventions. Our services have produced excellent recovery results for patients and they are able to progress to low secure or locked rehabilitation if possible.


Job Advert Role Description

Here at Stockton Hall Hospital, in York, we currently have a vacancy for one Catering Assistant

Our Catering Assistant's  role involves:

Assisting in providing the highest standard of catering and hospitality to patients, staff and visitors


Main Duties:

  • Serve patients, staff and visitors in allocated serving areas
  • Provide and serve hospitality
  • Clean, fill and maintain coffee machines within the guidelines and standards that have been set by the department
  • Prepare patient and staff salads and sandwiches
  • Ensure high standards of health, hygiene and safety are carried out
  • Assist chefs when and where necessary


Shift Pattern:  5 days over 7 days working every other weekend – shift times are 6.30 am – 2.30 pm and  10.15 am – 6.15 pm.


Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work as part of a team and have a mature outlook together with a flexible approach are essential
  • Previous experience essential, preferably within a similar environment but not essential
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Social skills



  • A basic understanding of food safety preferred but not essential as training will be given
