With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and behaviours that challenge. Wigginton Cottage is an eight bed residential service for male and female adults in Tamworth, Staffordshire which specialises in supporting people with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS).

Located in the heart of the beautiful village of Wigginton, the cottage is close to local amenities, parks and the countryside, yet in easy reach to major bus routes and the M6 and M42 motorways, making it accessible to towns and cities such as Birmingham, Coventry and Walsall.

Wiggington Cottage is part of Priory Adult Care’s specialist Prader-Willi Syndrome services, formerly known as New Directions, which has been developed since September 1998 with the involvement of service users, families and care professionals to design best practice in supporting individuals with PWS. Our philosophy is to respect and encourage people with PWS to lead individualised lifestyles.

Job Advert Role Description

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, and behaviours of concern, at Team Leader level or above. They must also provide evidence that they have a recognised qualification in Social Health or Positive Behaviour Support, due to the challenging behaviours that are frequently displayed by the individuals we support.

Our service offers 24/7 specialist residential support and is committed to empowering and encouraging the individuals who live here. Staff will provide the support needed to enable individuals to reach their goals and to develop their self esteem and the skills they need to live as independently as possible.   

You will be required to Support, and act in the absence of, the Registered Manager i.e. to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service. Have practical experience of supporting people with complex needs who can challenge their environment and the people supporting them. Demonstrate sound knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support, Practise Leadership, Person Centred Approaches. Knowledge of KLOES and compliance. Excellent communications skills to effectively maintain family and  community relations. Participate in administration duties and ensure that all required records are kept current and accurate to ensure validated audit trails. Good Numeracy, English and IT skills. Participate in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of individuals’ Care Plans, goals, activity planners, guidelines, Positive Behaviour Support Plans and risk assessments. To attend / participate in multi-disciplinary reviews for service users. To help undertake staff supervisions.
