Stockton Hall is a highly specialist 112 bedded hospital where patients requiring medium security can maximise the value of therapeutic interventions available.  The patient group consists of men and women with /Mental Illness and/or Personality Disorder and men with mild to moderate Learning Disability / Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Job Advert Role Description

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practitioner in Occupational Therapy to join the team working on our 8 bedded male Autistic Spectrum Disorder ward. 

You will have the opportunity of working as part of a very closely knit and supportive multidisciplinary team, as well as be a part of an excellent Occupational Therapy department, with a range of superb facilities and prospects. 

You will have previous experience of working with ASD service users and an understanding of the theories of ASD, as well as awareness and understanding of sensory integration and sensory assessments, positive behaviour support plans and the recovery approach.  You must be an enthusiastic and dynamic practitioner.  You will have a professional approach to your work – which should be both evidence based and embrace team working, as well as awareness of current legislation influencing occupational therapy practice in a forensic setting and legislation surrounding people with learning disabilities and ASD.

You will actively contribute to the on-going development of the service and be expected to take a lead role in practice development / CPD meetings.  You will use your experience of group work to assist in the delivery of the treatment group programmes across the hospital, working collaboratively with other disciplines.  You will be involved in the education of students from several universities, and be responsible for the regular formal supervision of more junior staff.
