Set back within 1.5 acres of landscaped gardens, the tranquil environment of the Priory Hospital Southampton offers therapeutic and recovery focused residential treatment as well as day care and outpatient services.

Priory Hospital Southampton provides 40 beds across 3 wards.  The  services provided at the hospital include a young peoples ward (CAMHs) and treatment of most psychiatric conditions and Eating Disorders.

We have a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists.

Job Advert Role Description

The Priory Hospital Southampton wishes to appoint a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for it’s specialist CAMHS In-Patient Unit.


The Consultant will, lead a multi-disciplinary clinical team comprising nursing, social work, psychology, teaching and specialist therapists in delivering a comprehensive and high quality Tier 4 CAMHS service.


A significant element of this post is the clinical leadership role in addition to direct patient care.  The clinical leadership role will be undertaken, both within the hospital and in the wider health economy working with GPs and Commissioners.


This influential position calls for a CCST/CCT or equivalent in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry backed by experience of working in in-patient settings with young people with significant mental health difficulties. A good team player, you will be keen to participate in a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, formulation and management plans. You will also hold full GMC registration with licence to practice. The ability to lead, develop and inspire others is essential, and you must have the communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence a wide range of audiences, from service users and their families to clinical colleagues and external healthcare providers.  For more information or an informal chat please contact Dr Kaleem Baig on 02380840044.
