With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and behaviours that challenge. We also offer a range of residential and nursing care settings for older people with varying levels of need.

Job Advert Location Description

Ogilvie Court offers 24/7 specialist residential care in a community setting for up to 25 adults who have learning disabilities, Autism, Mental Health issues, Prada Willi Syndrome, behaviors that challenge and associated health issues.  Our aim is to deliver a quality person centered service to empower individuals to lead a more independent and fulfilling life.

We are situated near the village of Earls Colne and have easy access to local shops and amenities. By car, Ogilvie Court is within easy access to the A12, M11 and M25. We are set in four acres of private gardens and woodlands, in a peaceful and rural location.  The service provides 25 bedrooms within 4 different homes; each has communal areas, including lounges, kitchens and separate gardens. Benefitting from our own resource and horticultural centre, we encourage a range of daily activities to enable individuals to develop independence and social skills, and our staff will support the individuals based on a step by step program tailored to each individual service user.

Job Advert Role Description

 

To assist the Manager, Deputy Manager of the Service, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. To provide a professional, high quality service that enables service users to achieve their aspirations and goals through empowerment and putting the service user at the centre of all we do, ensuring safety at all times. Ensure own actions and behaviour and through the effective supervision of Support Workers, the service complies with corporate policy and local procedures, statutory regulations and quality standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organises, co-ordinates and monitors the delivery of the Service’s care programme ensuring individual care plans are conducted and completed in accordance with the company’s policies and to agreed quality standards.
  • Supervises the preparation, planning and delivery of group and one-to-one social, and recreational activities; observing, recording and reporting responses while managing the routine incidents in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Supervises the reception, orientation and induction of new service users ensuring they are comfortable and familiar with the environment and to impart essential information to their families and or carers.
  • Supervises the effective, timely and accurate updating of service users’ records, case files and computerised information systems while responding to the more complex enquiries in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Observes and monitors the well-being of service users ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to more senior staff and documented as appropriate.
  • To undertake key working responsibility for individual service users, supporting the individual to plan goals and personal outcomes and ensure that these are comprehensively documented and reviewed.
  • Maintain an awareness and keep updated with the latest initiatives, sharing new ideas with the management and colleagues in order to improve the lives of the service users.
  • Liaise with external professionals as required
  • Represent the Service at meetings both internally and externally as required
  • Participate in the out of hours on call rota and respond as required
  • Create and maintain a stimulating, warm, friendly and safe environment for the service user to live in
  • To ensure the general cleanliness and tidiness of the service user’s home; to include household tasks and laundry as required.
  • Supervises support workers in delivery and supports people who use our service in achieving their outcomes in the way that they choose.
  • Support staff in own team to maintain effective professional relationships with the people who use the service, their families, colleagues, outside agencies and other professionals referring any issues to senior staff as appropriate.
  • Acting as a positive role model, provide effective supervision and guidance for own team contributing to their performance and professional development.
  • Inputs into development of local procedures and supervises staff in own team to ensure all actions comply with policy and procedure and are in line with regulatory, statutory and compliance requirements and meet quality standards.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care or related area or equivalent or higher recognised qualification.
