Job Advert Location Description

Oaktree Manor is a low secure hospital providing care and treatment to adults (male and female) with a primary diagnosis of learning disabilities. Patients are all detained under the Mental Health Act and may have Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD); challenging behaviours; dual diagnosis including mental health and personality disorders. We have six wards which provide safe and therapeutic environments for the patient group . Oaktree Manor is in Tendring which is near Clacton on Sea , Essex and has good travel links to nearby towns such as Ipswich, Colchester and also London.

Job Advert Role Description

Our Band 6 Occupational Therapist Role involves:

 

Working with men and women with a primary diagnosis of learning disability and sensory impairment, presenting with high risks of challenging behaviours and forensic history. Patients may also be diagnosed with co-existing conditions of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger’s Syndrome or Personality Disorder.

Our Occupational Therapists enable our patients to adapt to any aspect of their life with more independence, confidence and control. Considering the patients own views carefully, you will assess their abilities to perform activities and design treatment programmes to increase their capability to tackle difficulties. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will help patients to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity.

 

To be successful as Band 6 Occupational Therapist you’ll need:

•           BSc in Occupational Therapy

•           HCPC registered

•           Proven experience in mental health and knowledge of the

Mental Health Act

•           Patient centric & commitment to delivering high quality care

•           Fine tuned decision making skills

•           Excellent organisational capability

•           Effective communication skills
