Job Advert Location Description

The Dene Hospital - rated Good by a recent CQC inspection, supports both male and female patients with varying needs in its Medium Secure, Low Secure, HDU and Acute Wards.

Set in 11 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside The Dene offers service users educational, occupational and sporting facilities, including a sports hall, tennis court and gymnasium, along with various communal recreation areas. There is also a library, art room and rehab practice kitchen. The site also facilitates and runs recovery college courses.

 The Dene hosts a number of staff events throughout the year including an annual Summer BBQ to celebrate the staff long service awards. The Dene also has a well attended CPD programme and supports staff in their professional and career development.

Job Advert Role Description

Working alongside the Ward Manager, Charge Nurses and Nurse in Charge you will ensure all necessary tasks are completed efficiently and with confidence. You will be expected to have the safety and wellbeing of our patients at the forefront of everything you do. With your experience you will be required to support the training and supervision of junior and new staff members as well as actively seeking to expand your own knowledge and skillset. As a Senior Healthcare Assistant you will have a particular area/subject of interest that you will champion which could include Physical Health Awareness, Infection Control, Training, Security. You will also participate to Healthcare Assistant recruitment events for the hospital.

 

We are seeking applicants with:

• Proven experience in a secure mental health setting

• NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care 

• Proven experience of mentoring junior colleagues          

• A clear understanding of the Care Certificate     

• Clean driving license and willingness to drive company vehicles

• Professional attitude and positive approach, acting as a role model for junior staff members

• Previous training experience desirable
