Priory Adult Care is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist adult care services. Our aim is to provide the right support in the right home for all the individuals we accommodate.

With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and behaviours that challenge. We also offer a range of residential and nursing care settings for older people with varying levels of need.

Job Advert Location Description

Gateholme provides assessment and support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis but who may present complex conditions. Some of our service users also have communication difficulties or predominately have dual diagnosis, as well as a range of other disabilities such as Epilepsy, Down’s Syndrome and Dementia. The service offers 24/7 specialist residential support and is committed to providing just enough support to empower and encourage individuals to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible and achieve positive outcomes for all. The service is also supported by a quality assurance team including a specialist Learning Disability Advisor whose aim is to empower service users to take control of their lives, and where possible, work towards a level of independence which fits with their skills, confidence and aspirations.

Job Advert Role Description

Main Purpose

Ensures that the grounds and garden are maintained to high standards within Gateholme and The Old Vicarage to assist the well-being, safety and comfort of the service users.

Key Accountabilities

1. Maintains a safe and habitable environment throughout the service’s gardens and grounds, in line with quality standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.

2.  Undertakes a variety of general maintenance jobs as required, with particular focus on the exterior of the building and the gardens/grounds.

3. Identifies and suggests improvements to the gardens and grounds – thereafter, actions as agreed.

4. Liaises with local contractors on site, as required, providing local knowledge and guidance, in order that planned and preventative maintenance schedules can be completed in a timely fashion.


Knowledge and Skills

Basic numeracy and literacy.

At least 1 year’s gardening experience.

Riding a sit on lawn mower.

Must hold a full clean driving license due to being based at two services.


Responsible for the proper use of various pieces of gardening and/or maintenance equipment.

Responsible for ensuring the confidentiality and identity of service users residing at or attending Priory services.
